An 82-year-old man has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope on a ceiling fan inside his house located at No.45 Ayeyemi street in Ondo city, headquarters of Ondo west local government area of Ondo State.
The Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of the Enuowa Police Division, Mr. Kunle Omisakin, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Monday, described it as unfortunate.
The DPO said, “Investigation has started to unravel the actual cause of the death.”
According to the report, the daughter of the deceased, Taye Adegoke, raised the alarm after she saw her father dangling from a rope on the roof.
The immediate cause of the incident was not known as at the time of this report.
Nothing suspicious was found in the room where the late octogenarian hung himself.
According to a source, the 82-year-old man may have terminated his life as a result of a protracted illness that his daughter was suffering from which had taken a lot of money from him.
The DPO informed further that the matter has been forwarded to appropriate quarters at the police command headquarters in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.
