GRAPHIC PHOTOS; 3 SUSPECTED BANK ROBBERS BUTCHERED BY FADEYI RESIDENTS

b

Three members of a four-man suspected armed robbers were on Tuesday brutalized by residents in Fadeyi area of Lagos, while trying to rob a man who had gone to make withdrawal from a bank.

According to an eyewitness, the armed robbers had trailed a certain man to the First Bank branch around YABATECH junction, Morocco road. The man had gone to make huge cash withdrawals that he had to pack the cash in a polythene bag.

As he made his way out of the bank premises, the robbers who were on a waiting motorcycle (a.k.a Okada) snatched the money from him and rode off.

Eyewitness said that the Mopol officer attached to the bank shot one of the robbers in the leg while three others took to their  heels but the unlucky robbers were later apprehended by residents (Fadeyi boys as popularly called) who meted jungle justice on them.

“Some of those boys attacked the robbers with machetes and any other harmful objects they could lay their hands on”, the eyewitness said.

By the time Policemen attached to the Onipanu Police station arrived the scene, the armed robbers were already lying in pool of their own blood, gasping for life. The Policemen whisked them away in their van to their station at Onipanu bus stop just about 1km away.

Greennews.ng correspondent  who got to the scene sighted three of the suspected robbers in police van in cold blood. They had been butchered by angry mob before being handed over to the Police.

Effort to get more information on the incident proved abortive as our correspondent was badly harassed by the Policemen. The officers seized our correspondent’s gadgets and Identity card and was further detained behind the counter. He was resisted from taking pictures and forced to delete pictures he had taken. This we consider as an harrassment on the fourth estate.
