Ekpo had gone to celebrate Valentine's day in the company of his friends when he decided to swim and got drowned at about 5pm at an undisclosed hotel in Ajah, Lagos.
Sources say he was rescued from the pool and was taken to the pool but he died few minutes later. His corpse has been deposited at the morgue while investigation is on going to unravel the actual cause of his death.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP), Dolapo Opeyemi Badmus confirmed the sad incident via text;
“We lost him to the cold hands of death while he was swimming in a pool yesterday night. The command is mourning this indefatigable officer. May his gallant soul rest in perfect peace”
