FIRE GUTS LAGOS AIRPORT HOTEL, DESTROYS VALUABLES
A section of the Lagos Airport Hotel on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, was gutted by fire on Monday, destroying no fewer than three halls, two rooms and other valuables worth millions of naira.
The inferno resulted from a surge in electrical installations at a section of the Banquet Hall around 5am before it spread to the other parts.
Combined efforts of the Lagos State Fire Service, LSFS, and Emergency Management Agency, LSEMA, prevented the fire from extending to adjoining buildings.
It was further learnt that fire fighters from the Alausa station battled the inferno with three trucks of water and the fire was later put out around 6am.
An emergency official, who craved anonymity, said operation ended at the hotel around 9am, adding that nobody was injured.
